Kalispell Kreamery and Hedstrom Dairy is a multi-generational, 160-acre family farm based in Kalispell, Montana. William Hedstrom started dairy farming in 1978. His daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jared Tuck, took over operations and expanded the dairy to include a creamery in 2009.
The Tucks got involved with the Western Montana Growers’ Co-op about the same time they opened their creamery and began processing their own milk and yogurt products. Kalispell Kreamery supplies the WMGC with their full line of “cream on top” milk products, chocolate milk, and Greek yogurt varieties. The Tucks saw the WMGC as natural partners for their business—their focus on supplying high-quality dairy products to the Flathead Valley matches up with the WMGC’s commitment to supporting local farms and serving as the link between Western Montana farms and the communities they serve.
The farm business is built on a foundation of environmental and financial sustainability. Kalispell Kreamery has vertically integrated their entire operation, meaning it never needs to bring in cattle from outside sources and their milk and yogurt products never leave the farm until they are travelling to consumers. Their slogan, “From Moo to You,” represents the farm’s commitment to providing the shortest path between sustainable, farm-fresh dairy products for their local community at an affordable price.
Kalispell Kreamery proudly embraces their role as community agricultural educators. Interested visitors can contact the farm to book a tour for small groups, and the office’s glass windows welcome visitors to get a first-hand look at the creamery operation.
